Angry Bird's FHE

So I know its Thurs but we had to change up our regular Monday night FHE because Ryker was with his dad. We cant go having FHE's without him, he makes it sooo much more fun:)

Tonight I had a super fun dinner planned to go along with our Angry Bird's lesson, Angry Bird PIZZA!!! What kid wouldn't want that!! I have seen the pizza's a few different places, and our sweet cousin Kimi (who just had her baby girl YESTERDAY!) did this a few weeks ago with her kids.. I used her idea, on the portion that doesn't have sauce she put butter, garlic powder, Parmesan cheese and mozzarella.. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! The kids thought it was the coolest thing EVER:)

Angry Bird PIZZA!!

we couldn't just have 1, he needed little friends:)

He tasted just as good as he looked!

Next up for the lesson, I thought it would be a good idea to talk to the kids about controlling our emotions.. This lesson is just as much for ME as it is for them.. Sometimes I get soo overwhelmed that I over react to the silliest of things. I try my hardest to control it but sometimes it just gets the best of me. One thing I try REALLY hard to do when this happens is to sit the kids down and talk about what I was feeling, most of the time its followed up by me apologizing for my actions and making sure that each of them knows how much I love them and that I'm trying my hardest..  I feel like for boys especially, its important to show them how to express there emotions, even if they aren't always good ones.. I want them to know that it's ok to feel angry, mad or even sad, but I really want them to know how to control those emotions when they come up.. This lesson is all about proper reactions or things that you can/should do when your feeling certain emotions. I got this lesson from here: http://thehometeacher.blogspot.com/2012/02/dont-be-angry-bird-free-printables.html, so if you would like to go download any of the printables I used they are ALL HERE and they are FREE!! WOOO HOOO!!!

Angry Bird emotions

The boys had to match the angry emotion to the picture and then "name a cool down strategy":)

the angry birds book, (I didn't get to coloring the pictures, ooops)

After the lesson I had a fun game of Angry Birds planned.:) The kids have to identify what emotion on each cup and then they get to "bowl" with the angry bird head..... They had a hard time waiting until they had identified EVERY emotion on the cups but they did a really good job trying:)

angry bird bowling:) the BOYS LOVED IT!!

BEAR LAKE!!!

Yep this weekend we had yet another camping trip! Only this time when I say camping I mean we stayed in a hotel: with warm water for showers, beds and a continental breakfast! YUMM! Now that's my kind of camping!! :) We don't stay in hotels very often so the kids especially Ryker and Briyler thought this was the coolest thing EVER!! :O)

First up the DRIVE!! EEEK, I was really nervous! I thought it would be rough for the kids because we dont go very many places so they aren't used to be in the car for such long periods of time (especially the little ones) but surprisingly the kids did pretty well.. There was a little bit of whining and a little bit of fighting but it wasn't to bad. We stopped at McDonald's for lunch once we reached Logan.. We let the kids get out to play and stretch there legs, while we tried to figure out what time everyone was meeting at the lake.:)

Dugi running around.. He didn't eat a thing!

Ryker loves to play on the play sets!!

I didn't take tooo many pictures because I thought "we had A LONG weekend of pictures ahead" LITTLE DID I KNOW my camera would run out of battery after half the day at the lake!! AHHHH yep I was NOT a happy camper!! LITERALLY:)

But next stop was THE LAKE!! The kids had such a GREAT TIME.. I don't know why we don't go up there more often. There was a little shallow area right in front of us and the kids played there digging holes and throwing mud at each other. I am glad that I got a few pictures of them at the "beach"..

Kynlie liked all of the rocks..

Briyler and Ryker didn't want to take "ANY pictures MOM!! :)"

Ryke running past dugi.....

this is what dugi thought about getting splashed in the face:O) poor little guy!

Briyler LOVED GETTING MUDDY!

Kynlie with her sweet cousin Ashley:)

Daddy and his girl!

Ohh how I LOVE HER!

SLOW DOWN MISSY..

Such A FUN DAY!!! We need to go back like ASAP:)

Ohh and did I mention Kynlie likes to play with trucks and eat sand:) she has brothers that's for sure!

and aren't they cute!! :O) Love these boys!

After the Lake we went to dinner at a local restaurant "Angie's" in Logan.. It was raining LIKE CRAZY which is why I was SOOO HAPPY we had decided to get a hotel.! Everyone else headed back to the camp site and we headed over to our room.. HOT SHOWERS AND COMFY BEDS!! The kids all slept really well, Kynlie woke up once for an hour or two so Kaj and I decided to wake up Tui and feed him while she was awake too.. After Tui finished his bottle we sang Kynlie girl a song and then put her back in the crib for bed.. Her and Tui went right back to sleep.. WOO HOO!!!

Saturday was hang out at camp day.. We headed back up to the campsite after we had our "continental breakfast". The kids played down by the river, they spent a good while throwing rocks into the water with dad and trying to learn how to "skip" them. Later that morning we decided to head back into Logan and take the kids to the fair for a couple of hours.

You would think we would have gotten more pics with dads phone.. that thing is attached to his hip.. I had to RIP IT AWAY to get these few:)

Dad doesn't miss his cheer days one bit:) Yep kids I said CHEER, feel free to give him a hard time about it anytime you want, I sure do:O)

Dad let the kids each pick a toy from one of the vender's at the fair, Ryker and Bri picked out guns (mom didn't like that idea) and Dugi picked out a "PAN" aka a stainer.. haha yep Dugi you actually picked that over all the toys and balls that were available. Silly boy!!!

after the fair we headed back up to camp to hang out!! It was Judy's birthday so we had a YUMMY birthday cake with everyone at camp and then we had a good ol time talking and catching up with everyone:) We look forward to this camping trip every year, cant wait for next year!! :

Photo: Camping last weekend. Cute family!
Thanks Jeri for the photo!! Looks like we had a few "not so happy" campers :O)

Noahs Ark FHE

I struggled a little bit last night, after making homemade chicken nuggets for the boys and a copycat Rubi's recipe for me and Kaj, (it was delish) but I WAS BEAT!!!! The last thing I wanted to do was prepare a HUGE, FUN, and ELABORATE FHE, ok so that was an exaggeration most of our FHE's are pretty simple but I decided to keep this one SUPER SIMPLE..Kajsen has been loving the story of Noah's Ark lately so that's what we went with.. :)

First up we read the story of Noah's Ark (from our Baby's First Bible book, its perfect for their age groups right now) and then we talked about what it meant.. We talked about how people were making pretty poor choices during that time but Noah stood up for what he believed in. He was faithful in keeping the commandments and he did what the Lord asked him to do and in the end he was saved. I think its such a great example of standing for who you are, even if  sometimes you have to stand alone. Your friends and or peers might not always be making the best of choices but its important for you to STAND UP for what is right. In the end if you do your best and follow the commandments you will be blessed. I really hope that this is something my children will understand as they get older. It is soo much easier to stand up to your friends or the people that you love if you know your doing what your Father in Heaven would want you to be doing.

Ok so for the activity, I cut up a book of animals (that was pretty much on its last limb anyway). Then I hid the animals in the back yard and the kids had to go find the animals and put them "on the Ark" (which was our play airplane outside).. The boys loved finding all the animals and they thought it was soo funny that I kept calling the "airplane" and "ark"... I'm still trying to teach them how to use there imaginations, everything is quite literal for them right now.. haha

After our activity we came inside and read another book.. This one is all about Noah's Ark, "A" is for "Ark", DUGI LOVES THIS BOOK!!!!! And he really LOVES "N" is for "NOAH" for some reason:) it went great with the lesson so I'm glad he enjoys it so much....

THEN it was TREAT TIME.. since I spent more time than usual on dinner I didn't want to make a treat either so I made these SUPER EASY chocolate pretzels:) The kids thought they were the best:)

The kids LOVE this book, Dugi especially (this is his "Jesus Book").. They love the pictures and most of the stories are only 2-3 pages long.. So its perfect for their attention level.

Another one of Dugi's favorites (the "NOAH" book).. he yells "NOAH" until you turn it to the "N" page and read about Noah:)

Our animals!

"But mom this isnt a boat"

COW!!! Another one of Dugi's LOVES! (and as you can tell with 5 small kids its a little bit hard to take care of the lawn too:)

Bri finding more animals

Dugi was really upset we didnt have a boat. maybe next time I'll try harder to create something that looks more like a boat:)

Kynlie likes to be inside

DESSERT TIME!!

"Dugi dessert has to stay in the kitchen"...  his response "PAWEESEEE"

Kynlie loves her food.

as you can see I REALLY didnt want to cook.. haha

After everything was done, Dugi wanted to sit down and read his "Jesus Book"

Salt Lake City BEE'S and a Beautiful baby blessing:)

After saying good bye to the cousins earlier this week, we decided to do something fun as a family. What is more fun than the SALT LAKE BEE'S!?!? It had been a while since we have all been to a baseball game so everyone wanted to come. We bought tickets, (in the shade and on the 1st row so the kids had room to play) and it was actually really nice. The kids lasted way longer than I thought they would (not till the end of the game but we made it to at least the 8th inning, that's PRETTY DARN GOOD for us) and Dugi and Bri got a baseball, (the players were really nice to us). After riding the train we decided it was probably time to go, we wanted to have time to stop for ice cream!! :) By the time we got to arctic circle it was already 10:20 so we thought for sure they would be closed, NOPE!! They are open till midnight on Saturday's.. WOOP WOOOP!!! I'm sure the workers thought we were AWFUL parents taking our young kids to ice cream at 1030 at night but the kids had a blast eating there FREE courtesy cones, and mom really enjoyed eating HER HUGE shake with Fries to dip:) WOOP WOOOP!!!

Sunday morning came around WAY TO EARLY so it was a GOOD THING Ashley and JB planned Monson's baby blessing for today:) NO 830 church for us!! :O) Instead we got up, put on some church movies for the kids, I made 3 boston creme pies (but ONLY 1 turned out ok enough to eat, so thanks Mom for making back ups) and we even let the kids take an hour nap before having to be ready for church at 12:30.... Yep there was a little piece of us that was super excited we only had to fight the kids for sacrament today but the REAL bonus was that we got to go to grandma's and grandpa's ward so they helped keep the kids in line.. (Surprisingly the kids did awesome today, the only real problem was Dugi.. There was a poor little baby that wouldn't stop crying and Dugi would occasionally turn around and say "STOP IT BABY!!" and of course he had to say it loud enough for EVERYONE to hear:).. 2 Yr old's!!!!

The blessing was BEAUTIFUL, someone said "if you didn't know any better you would have thought JB had done this before" and I agree, the blessing was absolutely amazing and JB was so calm and collected throughout the whole thing. I am BEYOND happy for the Ash and JB, they are some of our closest friends up here and I JUST LOVE THEM BOTH TO PIECES!!!! They are an amazing couple.. There faith and endurance is something that I admire. They have had a rough year and this sweet little boy couldn't be a better reminder of Heavenly Fathers Love for them!
